About Me

Hello! I'm Nora
I am a master's student in Human Centered Design & Engineering at the University of Washington. I hold two undergraduate degrees in Sociology and Nursing and I am a 3x World Champion of Ultimate Frisbee. Before stepping into the design profession I provided bedside care as a registered nurse in hospitals for over 7 years.
I grew up in Seattle and love exploring the Pacific Northwest with my dogs.

My Approach
As a nurse I put my patients first - this meant spending the beginning of each shift sitting at their bedside and having a conversation - getting to know their wants, needs and frustrations, and finding opportunities to improve their experience that day.
As a designer I bring these experiences from the bedside into my design process, relying on empathy, communication, attention to detail, and creative problem solving to make better products and processes for people.

What Others Say
"Nora has been very involved in the project, always the first to create deliverables and take on any logistics work that needs to be handled. She's also done a fantastic job of compiling resources for the team and providing detailed analyses of whatever aspect of the project she's working on."
-Capstone Project Teammate
----------
"Nora is the kind of person who knows when to jump in and say 'Hey team, I think we are focusing too much on this very minor detail' or 'I think we should all just take a step back a look at the big picture'. She knows how to get us out of situations when we feel stuck and without her, we would be running in circles. She was also very instrumental in defining our team responsibility and ethics, which in a way laid the incredible foundation upon which our team currently functions."
